Herkimer Diamond

Herkimer diamonds aren't actually diamonds, but double-terminated quartz crystals with exceptional clarity. Chemically, physically, and optically, they are two completely different crystals. While Herkimer diamonds are made of silicon dioxide, a diamond is entirely made of carbon (plus a very small part of other trace minerals). A Herkimer diamond, as a quartz crystal, is a 7.5 on the Mohs scale, while a diamond is a 10.

Geologically, they form in cavities within dolostone or limestone rocks in Herkimer County, New York, USA. These unique crystals are quite hard and can often be found in jewellery.

Move over geology, here's where things get interesting! Herkimer diamonds are prized for their believed spiritual properties. Often seen as powerful amplifiers of energy, they're thought to promote spiritual growth, clarity, and awareness. The double-terminated structure symbolises balance and integration, aiding clear thinking and decision-making.

Many believe Herkimer diamonds cleanse and purify the aura, fostering inner peace and harmony. They're popular tools in meditation for their amplifying properties, thought to strengthen the effects of affirmations and intentions.
